Not only is our circuit breaker box now labelled, but my room is glowing in the interesting globular force field emitted by this amazing new cieling lamp I just hooked up. Found it on the street and carried it around to a few pubs to decide about whether it's some sort of electric chair for goldfish, or a light fixture.
Took home, hung from a spring-thing, and stared at the dangling wires for three weeks every night before falling asleep.
Then we got the ladder out, checked everybody's computer, and started flipping breakers. Me and Alzbeta. She was brushing her teeth so telling me how to call "front room" in czech got funny.
Set up ladder, power off, zip zip zip up the ladder. What you don't want to do is touch live wires with both hands. You can get bit by an outlet if you're only touching it with one hand, and survive easily. But when you send current across your chest and out the other arm, you've got problems.
Anyway, Damien's mini screwdriver was broken. It was a trippy break because the handle spun and the blade didn't. I had it with the tip stuck way deep in this foursquare bracket they have on the plugs here, to clamp the pairs of wires. The brass contact for the clamp is not insulated against the worm screw, so I think you get a straight connection into the wire you're attaching, when you touch the screw with a metal screwdriver. Hence the breaker box adventure.
So I'm up there screwing a screw that's buried in a plastic housing and I can't tell if it's stripped. Then I see that the screwdriver was broken, weird weird, which explained why I was about to be there all day if I didn't catch it.
(Like in I Heart Buddha when the CDs are stacked in the player so you're reading the label on one and listening to the one underneath it that you didn't know what there, bla bla bla awesome book.)
Soooo dammit finish the sotry already I hooked it up, stuffed a bunch of art in the globe that I had lying around, like plastic flowers grave-robbed out of a cemetery and used in last year's Halloween costume, and turned it on.
I will fill it half full, below the bulb, and put some fish in it the party.
Love is the law, love under will!
