A group of pranksters climbed a TV broadcast tower last year, jacked into the transmitter and sent out a fake broadcast showing a nuclear explosion over the Krkonose mountains.
On Tuesday a local court ruled, finally after much priceless free publicity, that the act was "not of a criminal nature."
On the one hand, there's the old story of the boy who cried wolf, which means an art group shouldn't play with people's emotions by broadcasting fake news of very scary things.
On the other hand, there's mass media which routinely gets and keeps your attention by continually broadcasting "news" of current events, and presenting them with a falsely hyped up urgency, to stimulate your fear circuit.
